Building and launching a <em>real rocket<\/em> powered by a <em>real rocket motor<\/em> provides a &#8220;hands-on&#8221; experience creating a unique learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>Rocketry promotes creativity, introduces technology and engineering, dramatically illustrates physics, provides a framework for experimentation, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Estes offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/estesrockets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Educator\/2814_Teachers_Guide_Teachers_Guide.pdf\">Guide For Teachers and Youth Group Leaders<\/a> which you may download and print. The guide (<a href=\"https:\/\/estesrockets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Educator\/2814_Teachers_Guide_Teachers_Guide.pdf\">click here<\/a> to download) provides a solid introduction to model rocketry tailored for teachers and leaders of youth groups such as Scouts.<\/p>\n<p>Another document available from Estes, <a href=\"https:\/\/estesrockets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Educator\/Science_Curriculum.pdf\">Science and Model Rockets<\/a>, describes a curriculum for fifth through eighth graders which uses rockets to teach basic physics concepts such as Newtons Laws of Motion.<\/p>\n<p>Additional resources, including lesson plans, for K-12 teachers are available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/edu.estesrockets.com\/\">Education section of Estes&#8217; web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a title=\"Local Clubs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.orlandorocketry.com\/local-rocketry-clubs\/\">local rocketry clubs<\/a> offer assistance to teachers and other youth leaders wishing to use rocketry as a group activity or as curriculum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.r-o-c-k.org\/\">ROCK<\/a>, the club which holds rocket launches on the first Saturday of each month in Oviedo, is the club which most actively supports K-12 groups building and flying model rockets (including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketcontest.org\/\">TARC<\/a> competitors). ROCK members have helped teachers and students with rocketry projects in the classroom and at the club&#8217;s launches.\u00a0 ROCK has also provided support to Scout and Civil Air Patrol members and groups.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nefar.net\/\">NEFAR <\/a>(which launches on the second Saturday of the month in Bunnell) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportrocketry.org\/\">SRA<\/a> (which launches on the third Saturday of the month in Palm Bay) have provided support to college and university groups including participants in NASA&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/offices\/education\/programs\/descriptions\/Student_Launch_Projects.html\">Student Launch Initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For help with a rocketry-oriented youth project, please <a title=\"Contact Us\" href=\"http:\/\/www.orlandorocketry.com\/contact-us\/\">Contact Us<\/a> and we will try to answer your questions or connect you with a local rocketry club officer or member who can provide assistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For more than 50 years model rocketry has helped teachers inspire and educate students.
