I flew my quadcopter at the April, 2014, ROCK launch capturing aerial photos of the event. Visit the April ROCK Launch photo album at RocketReviews.com to view the collection of photographs.
The inaugural launch for the Astatula Rocketeers for Austerity (ARA) will be held at 10:00 AM on April 12, 2014, in Astatula, Florida, at the defunct Citrus Groves Estates next to Van Buren St. (behind Astatula Elementary).
Rocketeers will need to provide their own launch gear, but admission is free. The field supports 1/8 A through G motors.
I’ve uploaded some photos from the National Association of Rocketry’s 2014 NARCON convention in Cocoa Beach, Florida, to RocketReviews.com’s Photo Album.
The three-day convention featured dozens of technical sessions, a lunch with local space legends, a vendor room, a dinner with three astronauts, and a behind-the-scene tour of Cape Canaveral.
Vern Estes and his wife, Gleda, will be guests at the upcoming National Association of Rocketry conference, NARCON 2014.
Born in St Joseph, Missouri, on January 4, 1930, Vernon Estes founded the most successful model rocket company, Estes.
Vern’s father owned Mile High Fireworks of Denver, Colorado, where Vern worked. Approached by G. Harry Stine and Orville Carlisle of Model Missiles Incorporated (MMI), Vern accepted the challenge of building a machine to automate the process of manufacturing model rocket motors.
Operated remotely and powered with compressed air, “Mabel,” as Vern nicknamed the machine, produced a rocket motor in 5.5 seconds.
When MMI folded a few years later, Estes formed Estes Industries to produce model rocket kits, parts, and motors.
Estes sold his interest in Estes Industries in 1969.
NARCON 2014 will be held February 28 through March 2 in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
On Saturday, NEFAR held their last launch of the year. With overcast skies and a brisk wind, turn-out was low. But, a few diehards launched rockets large and small.
Here’s a video I produced of the launch using a Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter.
I’ve uploaded photographs from the December, 2013, ROCK launch to RocketReviews.com:

I was having a problem with my left eye and found it difficult to take still photographs, so I let Bracha use the DSLR.
In the mean time, I took stills and video with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter. I used the video from the helicopter to produce the following video.
Here’s a video about the Bigger Big Daddy Akavish which we, Bracha and Roger, launched at during NEFAR’s Bunnell Blast in November.
NEFAR hosted Bunnell Blast the weekend of November 9 and 10, 2013. The two-day launch featured a range of flights from tiny MicroMaxx-powered rockets to huge, M-powered brutes.
A large collection of photographs from the event can be viewed in the RocketReviews.com Bunnell Blast 2013 Photo Album.
